LUBRICATOR - Hydrostatic

These are small versions of the full sized lubricator which found application on all steam engines, regardless of service.  There were many varieties, these being scaled down versions of the simplest.  The DLU4 is only just over 1 1/2” in height and will work on the smaller engine.  The DLU5 is big enough for an engine with 4 x 4” cylinder.  All have metering valve to control oiling rate and all have drain valves at the bottom to remove water to allow refilling.  The DLU1 and DLU2 have a sight glass as a part of the main housing to allow the operator to see the oil remaining in the lubricator. All lubricators are made of C360 brass, those with sight glasses have glass which is high pressure Pyrex.  Replacement glasses are available. 

STEAM CYLINDER OIL

A high quality cylinder oil, compounded with acid free tallow and a tackiness agent suitable for saturated steam, non-super heated service.  Oil is relatively low viscosity for proper atomization at the pressures and steam rates to be found in model service.  Oil is readily separated from condensate.
